MY GOAL IS TO BE A CHANGEMAKER
With the support of my friends, family, and community, I’ve turned my passion for people and recycling into my new future – being a changemaker.
For me, being a changemaker means creating social and environmental changes, based on my own life and experiences. I want to make changes for others like me, changes that benefit and empower, changes that are truly for the better.
My goal as a changemaker is to leverage my passion for recycling and turn it into a viable business that promotes inclusivity and creates equitable opportunities for people with disabilities.
I am doing this through my charity, 10 Cent Tom Limited.
WHY AM I DOING THIS?
It’s pretty hard to find a job these days, I know.
But it’s always been hard for me and other people like me.
As a disabled person, it’s tricky to find work that is a good fit for your needs - and even hard to find something you like and actually want to do.
WHAT’S THE VISION AND MISSION OF MY CHARITY, 10 CENT TOM LIMITED?
Vision
To ensure a socially and environmentally greener tomorrow for all - starting today.
Mission
Promote inclusive and environmentally wise societies, create equitable opportunities for people with disabilities, and make a positive impact in the communities where we live and work.
WHAT IS A ‘GREENER’ TOMORROW?
When it comes to our society and environment, me and the crew at 10 Cent Tom Limited have a growth mindset – we believe the grass can be greener and we know we can make it happen.
We’re not just looking at the other side of the fence, we are looking in our own backyard and in the yards of the people we care about – our community.
So, what does my charity think a socially and environmentally greener tomorrow looks like?
Prioritising an inclusive and equitable future for South East Queenslanders with disabilities - because we won’t accept anything less.
Advocating for self-empowerment and self-determination – not limiting what we are capable of - because we all deserve autonomy and the chance to chase our passions.
Protecting our climate with environmentally sustainable practices - because from our generation to the next, we all deserve to enjoy our world.
Strengthening community resilience and rebuilding in the face of our new Covid "normal", through authentic and meaningful connections - because none of us are in this alone.
